Retro Art. Part 3

Alright, today's theme is for the more story related art--- stuff.
These are the "four" elite demons. now obviously you can see the big Bad in the bg. that one is special, and i'll talk about him----later. Names of the four---- are not concrete yet, but the one in the bottom right corner is named "Felinar", and--- i suppose the Rock guy above him can be named Rog. other two i'll probably research appropriate names for them.
The Guardians of Zeral. These five each hold a piece of the essense of Zeral, who in the past was the Big Big Bad. In case you can't read my bad writing, they are Decay, Energy(Magic), Corruption, Strength, and Life (Vitality).

Ehh, that's all for now, tireeddd....

Retro Art. Part 2

Another Day, another start. Here's part two of the old retro art. yay, I rhymed, go me.
The Blade of the Phoenix.
I personally liked how I included that little box of pure grayscale.
I thought it adds a nice effect to it. This pic looks awesome inverted too.
My dislike of getting my hair cut is embodied in this. Now this pic is REALLY old imo. Coloring is kind of
shabby. but i like Jenny's (right) facial features in this.
This was Falicia's old costume. Her new one looks so much better.

Things have been looking a bit better. College life has been busy enough to keep my occupied. Still can't find my binder, but i haven't really sunken into a huge depression like last time. Still sad though, but---- .... man this adage is retarded and only about 25% fulfills the meaning of what i'm trying to get at but "no use crying over spilled milk". And--- was about to write something really depressing but won't. I just hope that whoever took it gets a good beatdown, then from that gets the sense knocked into them to put the binder in the lost and found at Clics.

Retro Art. Part 1

woot..... lost my old art binder. I am Earth's Number One Idiot. Alright. self recriminations aside, time to upload some of my old art that was lost to the void. Seriously though. I could've sworn i packed it into my backpack from Clics on thursday, and even if i didn't why wouldn't whoever found it take it to the lost and found? If i found someone's art stuff, i'd either A) NOT move it at all, or B) take it to the Lost and Found, NOT C) take it home w/ me. I mean there's NO value to ANYONE other than me. I swear.... maybe i'll really take up my friends' suggestion and check ebay.... anyways i guess i'll upload it all at the same time:
old black and white picture. I really like it, even though i can
detect a lot of my flaws present it still manages to invoke in me
feelings that my more recent pictures fail to do.
Fun litte beach picture i did. Sketched, zeroxed, then lightly went over in color pencil.
Very Simple, Very fun.One of my more recent pictures. I really liked the coloring on this.
I personally think this one turned out really well.
Hmm although i did say i'd upload them all at the same time i think i'll save the others for later. I'm really tired. and --- yeah.

Another day

Haha, i really have no clue as to where the direction of this blog is going, so i guess i'll just keep posting and winging stuff as I go. So this is Tammy, whom I've already posted a picture of earlier:
"Life is meant to be lived with a smile."
Alright, so first a short description of her character. Tammy is the Happy-Go-Lucky member of the group, and she personifies this with the bright colors that she wears. The fox tail is not attached to her, rather it is just an accesory on a belt, which she manipulates with magic. Out of the group, (who i'll introduce slowly) she is the one who is most versatile at creating applications out of magic. In addition, because she took dance, before, she is very flexible, as people who see this picture comment on. Btw, in general her magic looks like pink energy.

Alright. and now about my life so far. this is the part where you may now leave unless you like to be bored. Well, anyways, college has been going great so far. I always feel like i'm out of the loop though, there's just SO MUCH to do. However, one thing i learned is to never regret the path you're on, and make the most of it. alright enough of that- just deleted about 4 minutes of thought because it sounded bad. hmm what to talk about. Well, i'm behind on all my college reading so i suppose i'll work on that. Oh and i'm sad because my voodoo doll's pirate hat won't stay on.

Card Project 1: Me!

alrighty, in order to have a backup just in case my computer fries (again, not recently, but just in case), or something like that, i've decided to upload the "finished" colored versions of my little cards project, one at a time, so i can just draw it out, and so i can actually describe each one aptly (is what I tell myself). Okies, and here's number one:

"Spice of Life, and all that stuff."
Ok so here's the character i based off myself. Gave him messy hair, and bright eyes (for an asian as people tell me, i wish i had eyes that were really that bright). He wears a "trench coat" that doesn't really look like one but w/e, because when i was in 7th grade, i thought those looked really cool. His weapon of choice that he is sporting on his shoulder is---- custom made i suppose, haha, so i really don't have a name for it, however it is meant to be a variation between a spear and a sword/polearm, the spear being the end with the cross hilt with the straight and forward blade, the latter being the blade on the right curved and meant for slicing. He wields the element of fire. anddd there's our basic info for him.

Now, as to why i've chosen to create a character after myself, well, quite honestly a lot of other artists do that. the better question is why i would choose to let him carry my name too. Most other artists would find this vain or narcissitic, which quite honestly i am really, so there, what are you going to do about it? lol, alright kidding aside, i believe------ that i was going to say something profound before deliberately derailing my train of thought.

Back to the character being described above. his personality actually diverges quite a bit from my own. Well, initially he starts as a character that is/was like me before, where he's super anti-social, pragmatic, and coldhearted except to those that are very close to him. He used to be the type to carry grudges unforgiving of the slightest wrong upon him that he felt/knew/believed was unjustly deserved, which applies about 10x as much to those he cared about. This was when he had long hair during the first arc of the story, that would be fuking awesome if it could be made into a video game when i grow up. *ahem* ANYWAYS, currently his character is now everything i aspire to be, omitting some character flaws for character development. Carefree, happy, funny, he feels his life is his own, with no obligation to anyone, but rather he chooses to help everyone (ehh---- this just to make it seem like it rhymes, there are MANY exclusions to that statement, hahaha). I tried to depict this personality aspect mostly in his hair, keeping it as airy looking as possible. hmm well i think that's all for today.

College Delays: Interlude of the discrepency between the "Artist" and the Viewer

Yeah... College life is busy. so even though i've still been drawing things and scanning them in, I find myself unable to write about them. and so I've decided to bring an older piece in, and analyze a discrepancy of feeling between me as the "artist", and the viewer. Here is the prime example of where this discrepancy occurs:
(Can't really see the background because the scanner was unable to pick it up, but that isn't really the focus of the picture anyways, so meh)
So here we have a picture of Tammy and a few of her "fox friends". I do not remember where i might have picked up the idea to do this, or if it was just on a whim, but anyways that isn't really the point. The point is that a lot of people usually find this picture "cute", and actually vocalize that, while otherwise they tend to just pass by the others with no comment. Granted a great deal of my stuff is uncolored as a physical copy, but that is at most only 10% of it, from my beset estimates.
Now as for myself, the author of this picture, i personally never really liked this all together too well. For one thing, i had reduced to using the simpler version of the portrait (side) view of Tammy's face, because the "realistic" nose proved to be too hard to pull off at this current time and still make her cute. Also, I was really lazy with the coloring. Also if i had ever actually looked at a picture of a fox, i'd have known that they had white fur on the bottom of their jaws, like so:(now this is cute)
Why am i griping about this subject? well.... other than the fact that complaining is a very easy thing to do for me, and I really don't feel like writing something inspiring (not like i ever do, so i suppose the more appropriate way of putting it is "attempting to write something inspiring") at the moment. However, looking at it outside of my own personal views, and possibly what i perceive as the viewers, and instead look at it as -- an actual artist or critic, i could say that where this piece (my drawing not the picture of the fox) has value is in its simplicity. the very fact that i'd chosen to simplify her facial structure is proof of this. Yay for looking at the cup half full. (If you know me they are both the same thing. what one really needs to do is look at a full cup and see whether it is a limited quantity, or an ever refilling cup of the sweet nectar of life).

In simple words: I still don't like the drawing but i'll deal with it.

In addition people might wonder why i put quotes around the word artist. I do not feel like a true artist right now. in fact i have only taken the first step towards that path. however this is for another time. simply put, the first half will be to making a picture that i like, and the viewers like it as well. Then the second half is something--- more. (oooo mysterious~)

The art of Winging.

So yeah i was bored yesterday and decided i wanted to extend my little "card project" to include the ugly bad guys. now these characters needed a lot of revision i thought, b/c their attire looked like crap. Except if you know me well. i'm too lazy to actually plan out a costume design. So i sat down and started to draw. and--- came out with this mess:
Sigh.... yeah the design ended up really haphazard and weirdy. also i suck at face variations. tried to make him appear bony. blehhhh w/e. Sooooo in conclusion i shouldn't do anything without planning out at least one idea.

On a Side note however, something that came out really well i thought was something that i sketched out in Akamichi's class one day (seems like an eternety now haha). Pure pen which is something i almost never do b/c i know i'll mess up (usually) came out awesome though. Whelp that's all from me today! Too early in the morning to have any deep meaningful insights to life. Enjoy the simple things everyone. like warm laundry! =D

Just something i decided to do on a whim. Because i lack the determination to actually work on a web comic, i have decided to do a sort of "Art Blog", featuring the stuff i decide to do on a "day to day" basis (day to day as in possibly every 5 days.)

So here we have my Lord of the Dead , who I have currently not given an official name, presenting to you pie, filled with love and berries. This is honestly a random piece i did after a short two day inspiration of this character's background. In life, he was a carpenter/ puppeteer named--- Jacob (I made that up on the spot). Through a series of unfortunate events he died and became the lord of the dead, becoming the ultimate puppeteer toying with the bodies of the fallen. but really, he's a happy guy who loves to bake pies, but not really.

This was a fun piece to do for a while. was going to color it when i managed to get my scanner, but as i have not formed a concrete idea about his colors that didn't end too well. I really like how I gave him a green/brownish tongue though, it looks friggin awesome.

Yay my first actual post woot!
